For the first time, I followed my father to his factory and I was very curious by the colorful markings on the floor. According to my father, they are floor tape markers, which are used to organize the facility as well as to inform workers of the different levels of danger in the area. The colors and the meaning of each color intrigued me. My father informed me that these floor tapes could only be bought from 5 s stores, which is a store that provides industrial items. The floor tape markers come in various colors such as green, blue, yellow, orange, white, and red.
I noticed that yellow is used to mark areas where machinery such as the forklifts is supposed to be after they are no longer in used. Additionally, you would find them on floors that are marked for employees to walk on. It is safe for them to walk on the yellow line, as there would not be any heavy machinery around them. Red is used to warn employees about the dangerous machinery or tools. For areas or locations that are hazardous to employees, you would find red tape around the area.
After we left the factory, my father took me to the 5 s store, which his factory buy their supplies from every other month. However, since the expansion of the factory, my father had to buy more items every other week. He said once everything is sorted out, they would know when to place orders and the proper amount to order from the 5 s store. At this moment, everything is in disarray, and it is best that my father lets everybody and everything settle first before taking stock of all the items. He hopes that everything can be done before the month is over.
